Book Review - Cop Town

I LOVE when an author brings up another author or book in their novel. This has led to many new adventures in reading. My most recent find is a novel that takes place in 1970s Atlanta called Cop Town by Karin Slaughter. The book could be a typical police procedural with a serial cop killer, but it's SO much more than that. Slaughter delves into the socio-economic disparities in Atlanta, the psychological results of war, and the economics of prostitution. She explores the minds of white male police officers, who were experiencing a world where the power balance was swiftly changing. I am looking forward to reading more novels by Karin Slaughter, now that I can appreciate her brilliance as a fiction writer.
